��ɫAV Board of Directors is pleased to announce candidates for election to fill three open seats on the 2025 Board of Directors. As a USGBC member, you have the opportunity to vote to ratify a proposed slate of individuals to serve on the Board, which sets the strategic direction for the organization.

The proposed candidates expand the breadth of representation of the USGBC community, add to its geographic diversity, and bring expertise in alignment with USGBC’s Strategic Imperatives. All three individuals currently serve in leadership positions with longtime USGBC member companies: Bank of America, Vornado Realty Trust and WSP USA.

USGBC Board of Directors candidate slate

The Board has enthusiastically approved a slate of qualified candidates to fill the three director seats open in 2025. Alastair (Aly) MacGregor currently serves on the Board and is being presented for another term. Alexandra (Alex) Liftman and Lauren Brust Moss would be new to the Board.

Alexandra (Alex) Liftman, global environmental executive, Bank of America: Liftman is responsible for Bank of America’s global environmental sustainability strategy, which includes achieving net zero in operations, supply chain and financing activities before 2050. She also works on the bank’s commitment to deploy $1.5 trillion by 2030 toward environmental transition and socially inclusive development. Liftman previously held leadership roles in global communications strategy, global wealth and investment management, business banking and small business. Prior to joining Bank of America in 2002, she was a senior vice president at Edelman, where she led public relations activities for Morgan Stanley’s Technology Group, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Charles Schwab & Co. and other clients. Liftman serves on the Boston Green Ribbon Commission and the advisory board for The Trustees.
Alastair (Aly) MacGregor, senior vice president, WSP USA: MacGregor leads WSP’s Property + Buildings national business line. His 25 years of experience in high-performance design has ranged from individual net zero buildings to strategic portfolio decarbonization. MacGregor’s expertise includes sustainable, low-carbon and passive building design; renewable energy and decarbonization strategy; operational resilience planning; smart buildings and smart cities; and digital solutions development. He has led sustainability strategy for global real estate portfolios; NASA’s net zero, LEED Platinum “Sustainability Base”; Beijing’s LEED Platinum World Finance Center; Spaceport America (the world’s first commercial spaceport); Jurong Lake eco-city and Tianjin eco-city; and many of the world’s most sustainable sports venues, including Golden 1 Center, Intuit Dome and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic bid. Most recently, MacGregor captured his experience in sustainable strategy, planning and design in his book “Future Ready: Your Organization's Guide to Rethinking Climate, Resilience, and Sustainability.”
Lauren Brust Moss, senior vice president–chief sustainability officer, Vornado Realty Trust: Moss oversees Vornado’s industry-leading sustainability programs, including initiatives focused on energy efficiency, green cleaning, waste diversion, technology and infrastructure, and healthy environments. She has more than 20 years of experience managing sustainability, energy and capital improvements for large-scale buildings and portfolios, and is recognized as an industry thought leader and advocate on green policy, regulation and compliance. Prior to joining Vornado, Moss was senior vice president at Adai, the administrator of the Fitwel certification program, and previously worked in the sustainability practices at engineering firms NORESCO and Steven Winter Associates. Moss is a member of the Board of the Building Energy Exchange (BE-Ex), co-president of the New York Energy Consumers Council and a member of the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) Board of Directors. She earned a master’s degree in urban planning from New York University and an undergraduate degree from Columbia University.

How does voting work?

USGBC’s policy of proportional voting means that every full-time employee of a USGBC member organization in good standing may vote. Voting is open to individuals with a usgbc.org user account connected to their organization's membership. Each vote cast under the same member organization counts as a percentage of the single, aggregate vote allotted to each member organization.

USGBC’s bylaws require that a minimum of 10% of USGBC member organizations participate in the election. USGBC strongly encourages member participation.

The ballot comprises a Board-nominated slate consisting of the three candidates, with the following terms for each nominee:

Lauren Brust Moss and Alastair (Aly) MacGregor for three-year terms
Alexandra (Alex) Liftman for a one-year term

Members may:

Approve the entire slate (comprising all three candidates),
Disapprove the entire slate (comprising all three candidates), or
Select a write-in function to write in up to three names of their choosing instead of selecting the candidate slate.

The Board of Directors is responsible for USGBC’s strategic direction and continued sustainability leadership, and you have an important role to play in electing Board members.
