Ed Seliga is Chief Operating Officer and co-owner of Advanced Solar Products, Inc., one of the leading solar-power design and construction firms in the eastern US, and has worked in environmental protection and alternative energy for over 30 years.
He has guided the growth of Advanced Solar over the last sixteen years to its current staff of 25 during the installation of clean energy projects valued well over $300 million. He has been personally involved in the management and construction of over 100 MW of PV projects, including multiple LEED-certified projects. Advanced Solar has completed numerous PV projects for public schools, and is a leader in creating commercial solar+storage systems for resilient power.
He managed energy and engineering projects in the commercial real estate industry for over 20 years, participating in purchase transactions valued in the $100M range. As an environmental engineer, he designed and managed the innovative bioremediation clean-up of 3,000 tons of contaminated soil (using bacterial composting to digest fuel oil) at an industrial facility in Bridgewater, NJ, one of the first projects of its kind in New Jersey.
Ed has been a visible leader for sustainable and prosperous communities for more than thirty years. One of his primary volunteer roles has been with the Somerset County Business Partnership, the regional organization representing over 800 businesses, “leading the business community of Somerset County to a prosperous and sustainable future.” He has been involved continuously since joining the Environmental, Health and Safety Committee in 1989, serving as Chair for the launch of the Environmental Stewardship Council as part of the celebration for “Earth Day 1990”.
He has served as Board Member for the past 11 years, including three as Chairman of the Board, and continues to serve on the Executive Committee. He also continues to serve as Co-Chairman of the “Sustainable Somerset” committee, assisting companies in realizing the competitive advantages of sustainability. He is particularly proud that the committee organizes the SCBP co-sponsorship of Earth Week every year at Raritan Valley Community College.
During his tenure on the SCBP Board, he also served as a member of the Governing Board for the Somerset County CEDS (Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy) Project to include sustainability and resilience in the county-wide economic development plan for 21 towns.
Another top volunteer priority for Ed has been his very active leadership of the New Jersey Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council since 2004, serving as a member of the Board for sixteen years (including two years as Chairman of the Board). He was re-elected to another two-year term on the Board, and is committed to a Program of Work to ensure buildings become healthier, more cost-effective and more environmentally friendly throughout New Jersey.
Ed Seliga has also volunteered for over forty years in grateful service to his “alma mater,” Princeton University. He holds a B.S.E. degree in Civil Engineering from Princeton University.
He and his wife Debbie have enjoyed living in Rocky Hill, NJ for twenty-one years.
