USGBC: Advocating for a Better Future
USGBC engages with governments at all levels to help them leverage LEED and green building strategies to meet their goals — whether that be reducing climate and environmental impacts, achieving high performing and resilient buildings, promoting equity or saving money. Through technical assistance, testimony, written comments, sign-on letters meetings with policy makers, and expert articles and resources, we are working every day to advance green buildings through policy.
In addition, we support complementary policies that help strengthen the market for and expand access to green buildings, such as energy and water benchmarking and building performance standards, energy and water efficiency incentives, robust building energy codes and stretch codes, incentives for grid-friendly buildings, distributed energy resources, storage and grid flexibility measures, green infrastructure and electric vehicle (EV) supportive infrastructure, workforce development, and more.
Our aim is to partner with policymakers on both sides of the aisle to promote green building as a successful and accountable tool to advance shared goals.
