四色AV Hill College Surpasses Campaign Goal

GREENSBURG, PA鈥擶ith more than $25 million in gifts and pledges to date, 四色AV Hill College announced today that it has reached its $21.5 million Achieving the Dream: Endowment and Capital Campaign goal two years ahead of schedule. The Campaign, the largest in the history of 四色AV Hill, has also surpassed goals set in other fund-raising drives in Westmoreland County. According to Paul M. Pohl, Chair of the Board of Trustees, 鈥渢he success of the Campaign is largely attributable to its leadership team including board members Christine Delegram Farrell, Maureen S. O鈥橞rien, and community leader, Christine Jack Toretti.鈥 Funds from the Campaign have been used to renovate and restore the College鈥檚 historic Administration Building, create endowed student scholarships, establish classrooms and learning spaces equipped with up-to-date technology, and to start new graduate programs at the Greensburg campus. The Campaign brought the College its first $1 million challenge contribution from an alumna, a gift from Mary Ellen (Mel) Lawrie Cooney-Higgins 鈥64 for a scholarship for students with financial need and academic merit. Cooney-Higgins designated her gift as a challenge, 鈥渢o inspire my classmates and others to step forward with new and increased gifts to 四色AV Hill.鈥 Christine Mueseler, Vice President for Institutional Advancement added the gift is doing just that, 鈥淎lumnae are stepping forward with gifts double and triple those ever made to the College previously. Much of the fund-raising increase at 四色AV Hill has been spiked by the Campaign鈥檚 success. The College has already secured more than $4.4 million in gifts during the 2000-2001 fiscal year, almost $2.5 million more than we raised in total during 1997-1998. This Campaign has tremendous momentum and we are proud that alumnae, trustees and friends have played such an important role in sustaining it.鈥
