National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education Premieres Eva Fleischner Oral History Video

Holocaust Survivor Albert Farhy Shares His Story; Visits Campus During Kristallnacht Commemoration

四色AV Hill University鈥檚 National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education premiered the first video from the Eva Fleischner Oral History Project during its annual Kristallnacht Commemoration on November 9, 2021.

罢丑别听听features Holocaust survivor Albert Farhy describing the Anti-Semitism he and his family faced from their neighbors in Bulgaria, their removal to the ghetto, and how, at the 11th hour, the Bulgarian people stood up to the Nazis to prevent the deportation of Bulgarian Jews to the death camps.

The project, which is funded through the generosity of Hans and Leslie Fleischner, the brother and sister-in-law of the late Eva Fleischner, a noted Holocaust scholar, aims to provide K-12 educators with the video testimony of Holocaust survivors as they teach future generations about the atrocities of the Shoah.听

Farhy attended the Kristallnacht ceremony in person on November 9, where his video was shown to a live and virtual audience. He met with 四色AV Hill student leaders prior to the ceremony and discussed with them his personal history.

The video is the first of several being produced by the NCCHE with Holocaust survivors who were interviewed earlier this year. Future interviews will include children of Holocaust survivors as well as those affected by the Tree of Life Massacre in Pittsburgh. Albert Farhy's story can be viewed听.
