Kaleigh Muko 鈥20 Named to Pittsburgh鈥檚 30 under 30 by Pittsburgh Business Times

Kaleigh Muko 鈥20, an intelligence analyst at the National Cyber-Forensics & Training Alliance (NCFTA), was named one of Pittsburgh鈥檚 30 under 30 by the Pittsburgh Business Times in March.聽

鈥淓ven as a kid I always wanted to help people,鈥 Kaleigh said. 鈥淚 was drawn to the criminal justice system. For a long time I thought about going to be a police officer and hopefully moving towards a detective position.鈥

Kaleigh was drawn to a career in cybersecurity after a conversation with a teacher in high school.

鈥淚 said, 鈥業 don鈥檛 know if I can really do that鈥 I don鈥檛 know how to code, I鈥檓 not familiar with a lot of that technical stuff.鈥 They said it鈥檚 not as technical as you think, you can be more of an investigator. That鈥檚 when the door opened, and I thought this is something that I want to do,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 love technology and I want to help people and this is the best way for me to do that.鈥

鈥淭hat鈥檚 the beauty of cybersecurity 鈥 you can be super technical and you can focus on the code and the nuts and bolts, or you can be on the investigative side.鈥

Kaleigh enjoys working with her team at the NCFTA, which is headed by Stacy Moore, a cybersecurity instructor at 四色AV Hill, and includes another 四色AV Hill alum Justin Timothy 鈥20 who focuses on more of the scripting and coding side of cybersecurity.

鈥淭here鈥檚 always something different, there鈥檚 always something new and it鈥檚 really helpful to have people across all skillsets working together,鈥 she said.

She attributes much of her success to her teammates, many of whom are around the same age and joined the NCFTA directly from college.

鈥淭hey are a huge part of the reason as to why I got the award 鈥 because of the support and countless hours that we鈥檝e put in together to do this work.鈥
