For over 13 years, Selina Holmes has used her ability to authentically connect with people from all walks of life to champion LEED, the most widely used green building program in the world. A deep believer in sustainability and in the power of connecting people and telling their stories, Selina works every day to articulate the story of LEED and the impact it has on people and industries all over the world. As Vice President of LEED Marketing at the U.S. Green Building Council, Selina has served as the marketing architect of the LEED rating system, driving the organization’s strategy to increase awareness, engagement, and adoption of LEED and its associated products and initiatives. Selina ensures consistency and accuracy in how USGBC communicates about the rating system in 182 countries and territories throughout the world. In recent years, Selina has championed new approaches to connecting people to the foundations of the rating system—covering sustainability, health and wellness, equity, and resilience—and has been a strong advocate for building a broader tent for USGBC’s global movement by ensuring the promises and potential of LEED and sustainability reaches those who need it most. Selina’s deep knowledge of the rating system and understanding of the technical needs of its users allow her to leverage her position to ensure not only LEED’s success, but also its growth and its impact. In addition to her work with LEED, including the launch of the highly successful LEED v4.1, Selina served as the lead marketing support for the launch of the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in China and Europe. Selina holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland, University College and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Maryland, College Park. Selina lives in Maryland with her husband, James, and their four children. Selina is passionate about spirituality, family, sustainability and giving back to those around her and in her community – and is deeply committed to embedding these passions into her work.
